LEICESTER fans have descended on the city centre to celebrate their incredible Premier League title win with wild celebrations expected long into the night.
Around 100,000 footie fans have gridlocked the city in a celebration to mark one of the greatest and unlikely sporting achievements in history.
Events and activities began at 3pm as fans revelled in Leicester City FC's 5,000/1 Premier League title triumph.
Fans have been shown video highlights of the club's season being played in Victoria Park – the city's cultural quarter area.
"I'm looking forward to having the opportunity, along with the rest of the city and many, many people from far and wide, to celebrate this fairytale of sport."
The city is already buzzing, with many shops and businesses along the route displaying flags, posters and banners of support.
Hundreds could crack out some excuses to leave work early today – or miss it entirely tomorrow – ahead of the big bash.
Leicester City ambassador Alan Birchenall said: "We have the best team in the land, but no-one should forget that we have the best fans in the world.
"I want them to party like they never have before."
The unlikely nature of Leicester's victory trumps any other sporting underdog victory from history.
Japan's famous Rugby World Cup victory over South Africa last year was a 66/1 shot and Greece's Euro 2004 victory was a 250/1 bet.
Scot Paul Lawrie was 500/1 to win the Open when he lifted the Claret Jug in 1999.
Bookmakers William Hill meanwhile say they have paid the winnings to the final of their 5,000/1 punters, giving the customer from Manchester £78,000 from a £20 bet.
Another William Hill customer, Leigh Herbert who nearly cashed out, has now collected a total of £20,680 from his £5 bet.
The days of Premier League sides being offered 5,000/1 odds are over, but William Hill has offered the same odds for a series of double bets, including 5,000/1 on Burnley winning the league and striker Andre Gray being top goalscorer.
