British baby survives fatal car crash which claimed four lives: Father Anthony Hays killed

A BRIT dad and two members of his family were killed in a car smash in Brazil on a day out.

TRAGEDY: Anthony was killed after a horrific car crash which killed three others in Brazil

Anthony Hays, 37, was travelling with his Brazilian wife Aline and their six-month-old baby Luiz.

The baby, his wife and her sister Pamela Pereira Sa, 26, survived the crash with another car.

But her mother Maria Lucia dos Santos, 54, niece Emily, nine, and the other driver were killed.

The tragedy happened when the Fiat Strada smashed into a Toyota Hilux in Terra Nova in east central Brazil.

Tributes last night poured in for Anthony, an engineer from Morecambe, Lancs.

His brother Mark wrote on Facebook: “I miss my bro so much xxx.”

And Anthony’s childhood pal and best man, Karl Mulliner, 36, said: “We have been best mates since we were five or six years old, and have done everything together. I’m completely heartbroken. I’m really finding it hard to take in, not stopped crying. I am ruined. I can’t believe he is gone. I am going to miss him so much.”

Anthony and Aline married in May 2013.

The pair studied together at Lancaster and Morecambe College.

The tragic dad worked for Aerius, a marine engineering firm, based in Rosyth, Fife.
