He claims the terrorists wanted to bring five bomb-filled cases with them but refused to let him load the car.
But in a later interview with police, he said the bombers were forced to leave two cases behind due to lack of space in the vehicle.
It comes as Belgian police said one of the explosives, thought to be the deadliest and most powerful, mysteriously did not go off.
The driver took the trio to Zaventem airport and tipped off police after CCTV images of the suspects were released.
Earlier, the two suicide bombers who detonated explosives at the airport and a nearby Metro station – killing 31 – were named as brothers Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui.
Ibrahim struck at the airport while Khalid attacked the Maalbeek station in the heart of the Beglian capital.
Police are still hunting Najim Laachraoui – seen wearing a white jacket, a dark hat, a light coloured shirt and pushing a trolley.
The taxi driver took police to the pick-up address yesterday where they found a nail bomb inside one of the suitcases they had left behind along with chemicals and an ISIS flag.
Chillingly, the driver told how the men snapped at him when he tried to help them carry their bomb-laden bags.
He is under armed guard today after providing key evidence to the authorities.
