The 23-year-old netted a stunning double in Sunday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool and has now set is sights on firing Southampton to a Europa League slot.
Senegal international Mane, who also missed a penalty in the win over Jurgen Klopp’s side, said: “It has not been an easy few months without scoring but I got two and the team won.
“It was not a good time, but I never doubted in my head. That can happen in football but now I have to believe and work hard every day in training and try to keep going.
“It was great for me, but the more important is the team and that the team wins and I am happy for that.
“I missed the penalty, but I always believed I would score. You have to believe in football.
“In football you can miss, but afterwards you have to keep your head high and try to keep going.
“I was pushed by my team, especially Victor (Wanyama), Jose (Fonte). We are trying to keep going game by game and we will keep fighting until the end of the season. Europe is our ambition.”

Midfielder Wanyama is also dreaming of a second season on the continent after Ronald Koeman’s side leapt into seventh place in the table.
The Kenyan ace Wanyama, who returned to action after a five-match ban, said: “We really needed to win and we showed great character to get three points.
“It is important to keep getting points on the board because it is tight in this part of the table.

“Getting points like this, you never know where you are going to end up.”
To cap a perfect day for Saints, injury plagued England star Jay Rodriguez netted a hat-trick for the under 21s.
Rodriguez, who is set for a first team return after the international break, said: “It is a great feeling to be back scoring goals.”
