Europe's most dangerous man? What we know about Najim Laachraoui

ONE of the three Brussels airport suspects – believed to be the bomb-making mastermind behind both the Belgium and Paris attacks – has been arrested.

Najim Laachraoui was the last remaining fugitive in the terror cell headed by captured Salah Abdeslam.
He was captured in an apartment in Anderlecht, Brussels. 
Police believe he manufactured the bombs that were detonated in Paris on November 13 and is believed to have created the nail bombs that killed 19 and critically injured hundreds yesterday.
They released a photo of 24-year-old Laachraoui at Zavantem airport yesterday as he made his way through the terminal with suicide bombers — Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui.
The two suicide bombers were killed after they blasted nail bombs at Zaventem Airport on Tuesday morning— killing 15.

CCTV footage showed detonators they had hidden in their gloves as they pushed luggage trollies through the terminal.
ISIS fanatic Laachraoui, who escaped the airport, was known to police but had been living as "Soufiane Kayal" using a fake Belgian identity card.
He had fled to Syria in 2013 but returned under his new identity, evading security checks.

A Belgian citizen born on the 18th of May 1991 in the Moroccan town of Ajdir Laachraoui was raised in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek where he studied electrical and mechanical engineering at Catholic school the Institut de la Sainte-Famille d’helmet.
He graduated in 2012 before leaving for Syria a year later. 
His DNA was later discovered on two suicide belts in a safe house and apartment used by the terror cell in Belgium during an investigation into the Paris massacre.

In a chilling turn of events police have admitted they knew of Laachraoui among criminal networks for his specialist bomb making know-how, leading them to believe he manufactured the deadly nail bombs that went off in the airport yesterday morning.
It has not yet been confirmed if he is linked to the third explosion in a Brussels metro station that killed 15 an hour later but there are reports that his brother was responsible.

He rented a safe house in Auvelais, Belgium, which was used by the terrorists and transferred 750 Euro to a family member of Abdelhamid Abaaoud who was killed in a police shootout a week after the Paris attacks.
A taxi-driver claimed to have brought Laachraoui, Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui to Brussels airport yesterday morning.

He said the men initially hoped to bring five pieces of luggage but he only had room for three.
Two of the suitcase bombs full of nails were detonated but Laachraoui panicked and escaped the scene. 
Police discovered a further two pieces of luggage jampacked with explosives in the Belgian flat.
