On the blob – are you brave enough to take on this high-flying watersport?

FORGET bungee jumping and skydiving, blob jumping is the latest extreme sport to try while travelling.

The blob is basically a giant inflatable platform that floats on the water.
A minimum of two people are needed to experience the thrilling ride – The Blobber and The Jumper.
The Blobber crawls along the blow-up structure and sits on the end.

They then wait tentitively why The jumper climbs to a great height before launching onto the opposite end of the structure.
This causes the first person to fly high into the air. The current world record for a Blob Jump is a whopping 22 metres.
The craze started with the huge rubber tanks used by the US Army. One of the soldiers discovered the "blob effect" while messing around with his comrades.

But the thrilling sport has taken off all over the world and is taking over from jet skiing and banana boating.
The sport is particularly big in France, with giant blobs situated in Tolouse, Lake Settons in Nièvre and the seaside resort of the town of Agde.
But the Guinness World Record, which involved a crane and two jumpers, was completed in Germany in 2012.

The daring video has since gone viral, being viewed more than 34,000 times.
