Stella Oduah has changed her twitter account

Stella Oduah has changed her twitter account name from @senatorstellaoduah to @stellaoduah. Though she apologised for the mix up, but can we really say it was a mix up as she claimed?

You would recall that just last week, she was stripped of her position as a senator by the Supreme Court. We are trying to put two and three together here to know the reason behind the sudden change.

We expect more details on this development soonest.

Gunmen on Sunday kidnapped an aide to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Captain Henry Ungbuku (rtd).

Ungbuku, who is the Special Adviser on Aviation to the Bayelsa State Governor, was abducted as he was about leaving the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Light House Parish, after service.

According to The Punch, his abductors had laid siege to the church located in Iwofe, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State as early as 8.50am, waiting for their victim to come out at the end of the service before pouncing on him.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that an unsuspecting Ungbuku, who came out of the church some minutes after 10am, was stopped by the hoodlums as he drove out of the premises of the church.

Ungbuku’s abductors were said to have asked him to open the door of his vehicle while one of them pointed a gun at him.

The gunmen, according to the source, drove their victim away to an unknown destination after forcing him into a waiting vehicle.

“They were about four, but we did not know whether there are others hanging around the premises of the church. They forced him out of the car at gun point and took him away.

“There was confusion around the premises of the church when the incident happened. The kidnappers were all armed and many people who saw the scene were all scared,” the eyewitness said.

However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, said he had not been briefed on the incident.

Homicide? Policeman Shoots 12-year-old Girl But Her Dad Gets Charged for Her Death

A police officer shot at and killed a young girl but everyone was shocked when her own father became the suspected killer.
Ciara Meyer and her father Don Meyer

The Pennsylvania father of a 12-year-old was charged with her murder after a police constable mistakenly shot the girl when he was aiming for the rifle-toting dad in self-defense.

Ciara Meyer, of Penn Township, Penn., was killed on Jan. 11 on a day she stayed home sick from school after her father pulled a loaded rifle on police Constable Clarke Steele, serving him eviction papers, prompting the constable to fire back.

The bullet went through the reckless man’s arm and struck Ciara, who was standing behind her father, in the chest. Donald Meyer, 57, was charged with homicide on Friday for triggering the events that led to his daughter's death.

It was Meyer's "extremely reckless actions” that indirectly led to his daughter's death, according to District Attorney Andrew Bender.

Meyer faces charges of homicide, involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children and two counts of aggravated assault, including terrorist threats and reckless endangerment. However he denies responsibility for his daughter’s death.

“They’re responsible for the murder and shooting of my daughter and me, and now it’s a big cover up,” he said.“They’re charging me with a felony for protecting my family?” Meyer told CBS 21 as he was escorted out of the magistrate's office in an orange jump suit.

Seven Months After Inauguration, Buhari Achieves One Of 222 Campaign Promises

A new report by government watchdog, Buharimetre, has provided details into the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari so far.
Muhammadu Buhari

Seven months after taking over government, the Muhammadu Buhari administration has succeeded in achieving only one out of the 222 campaign promises made to Nigerians, according to a report by Buharimetre, a civil society monitoring report tracking the implementation of the president’s campaign promises.

The report, which covers the activities of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government from May 29 to December 31, 2015, observed in its assessment that the achievement was in the area of the fight against corruption, even though a lot was still left undone in that regard.

“PMB has only achieved 1 out of the 222 tracked promises, which constitutes 0.5 percent of the promises,” Buharimetre reported.

“ More so, it reveals that while the government is taking action to achieving only 27 (12.2 percent approximately) of the tracked promises thus ongoing, 194 electoral promises are still ‘Not Rated.’

“ The latter constitutes 87.3 percent of the tracked promises.”

The electoral promises not rated, it says, is because there is “no tangible related activities being implemented.”

The 2015 report is the fourth on the series of report on the assessment of the performance of President  Muhammadu Buhari  and the governing party, the APC, on the delivery of its 222 electoral promises.

The report examined and focused on issues around insecurity, the economy, oil and gas, corruption, agriculture and social sectors, with emphasis on the environment.

It also provided useful insights into the current state of key sectors as a way of establishing the basis of measuring outcomes.

Assessing the fight against corruption, the report noted that there had been visible efforts to combat corruption since the inauguration of the present administration, naming the arrest and prosecution of some notable persons and the efforts to recover looted funds.

Passenger plane makes emergency landing after cabin crew got into a mid-air fight

A JETLINER was forced to make an emergency landing – after two stewardesses started fighting midair.
PLANE FIGHT: A cabin crew squabble forced the captain to land the plane
Trouble broke out about 40 minutes into the Delta flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis in the US between two trolley dollies arguing about 'work issues'.
The pair allegedly began a fist fight - and a third female attendant who tried to calm things down was whacked in the face.

When the captain heard of the trouble he radioed air traffic control to authorise an unscheduled landing so he could "hear from the flight attendants".
The Boeing 757-200 diverted to Salt Lake City in Utah where the three cabin crew members were kicked off for "bad behaviour".
DIVERSION: This maps show how far the plane was into the flight
The plane was grounded for 80 minutes while a back-up crew was found before taking off again for Minneapolis 75 minutes behind schedule.
One of the 300 passengers later said they were told that three cabin crew members had been kicked off due to "bad behaviour".
Delta immediately apologised in a letter to the delayed passengers when the plane arrive at its final destination after the bust-up on January 22.
The letter said: "I am sorry we didn't deliver on our brand promise for you today.
"Some of our team members did not display their best behaviour.
"We expect our flight crew to be nothing but courteous and professional at all times and what you experienced was far from that."
Passengers were furious to see their flight disrupted
GROUNDED: Passengers were furious to see their flight disrupted
The decision to divert was made at 37,000 feet, when the plane was about 180 nautical miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah.
According to flight records, the plane left Los Angeles, California at 16.50 and arrived in Minneapolis, Minnesota at 21.42 – four hours and 52 minutes later.
In a statement, Delta said: "We apologise to those customers who were inconvenienced after flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis made an unscheduled stop in Salt Lake City following an altercation involving two flight attendants on board.
"The actions of these crew members in no way reflect the values and professionalism we expect from all of our employees.
"We strive to ensure that every customer has a great experience with Delta.
"We regret that our customers' experience did not live up to our expectations.
"We provided a letter to our customers immediately upon landing in Minneapolis-St.Paul to apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused.
"To reimburse our passengers, SkyMiles members received miles, while customers who are not currently SkyMiles members received a travel voucher."

Muslim Woman Donates 50 Bibles Written in Hausa to Church in Kaduna (Photo)

A Muslim has surprised people with her super exemplary gesture when she donated several Bibles in the Hausa language to a church.

A Muslim woman in Kaduna, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, on Sunday donated 50 Bibles written in Hausa language to a church leader and his members.

This, she says was done to strenghten religious tolerance and mutual understanding as the world marks International Interfaith Harmony Week by the United Nations.

Hajiya Tijjani who arrived the Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry Sabon-Tasha, Kaduna at 9:30am with her son, Abdullahakim, to attend Sunday church service with

Christians, explained that there is the need to start the World Interfaith Harmony Week holding between 1 and 7 February by donating important gift such as Bibles to Christians.

She also said the importance of sharing Bibles to Christians is to boost mutual understanding and inter-religious dialogue as well as spread the culture of peace and harmony in a way to immensely promote harmony between all people regardless of their faith and belief.

According to her, the Interfaith Harmony Week was established to celebrate the principles of tolerance and respect for others that are deeply rooted in the world’s major religions, adding,

“That is why United Nations declared and dedicated the first week of this month to promote all activities that encourage and enhance religious activities and tolerance.

“Christians are my brothers and sisters and as a Muslim I love visiting them, because both religions preach peace and tolerance. Attending the church service doesn’t make me become a Christian. As a Muslim I have several Bibles at home and I read them.

We all are from Adam and Eve and because both Muslims and Christians have their books and scriptures that guide them, we should rely on the scriptures.”

Hajiya Tijjani, who pointed out that the impact of the previous ethno-religious and political crises in the state that claimed hundreds of lives and properties was a serious setback to peaceful co-existence in Kaduna, urged clerics from both religions to preach sermons that foster unity and peaceful co-existence.

Receiving the Bibles, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru, thanked Hajiya Tijjani for the gesture and urged other Nigerians to learn how to tolerate, accommodate and live in peace with one another irrespective of religious background.

President Buhari Exercises Fear, Says Terrorists Returning to Embarrass Government

President Buhari has warned Nigerians about the attempt by terrorists to recoup and return to disrupt peace.

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday raised the alarm that having lost the war to the nation’s armed forces, insurgents are desperately seeking ways of returning to the society to wreak havoc.

Buhari therefore called on all Nigerians, especially those that are resident in areas previously ravaged by terrorists, to be more vigilant and ready to work with security operatives in ending the war against insurgency.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President made the submission while reacting to the spate of suicide bombings in Chibok market, Dolari Internally Displaced Person’s camp in Borno State and the Gombi market in Adamawa State.

He said the insurgents’ gradual return was meant to embarrass his government and that was why they chose isolated communities and markets as their targets.

He said the insurgents had suffered immensely from the sustained bombardments of their camps and hide outs by the Nigerian military and had resorted to using desperate measures to gain cheap media attention.

The President added that the terrorists had been rendered weak, confused and homeless after repeated bombings and ravaging of their camps and hide outs by the military, forcing them to find their way back into the society to wreak havoc, like the case of the Dolari IDP camp.

He said, “I urge all citizens wherever they live to own the war against terror and to be part of the fight because it is the only way we can finish the remaining work that needs to be done to make our country safe again.

“Having lost the war, they (the insurgents) are seeking ways and means to gradually find their way back into society.

“They are not returning to contribute but to cause more havoc. They are so desperate to embarrass the government and the people that they have no qualms attacking isolated communities and markets.”
Buhari noted that the materials for the Improvised Explosive Devices were locally sourced by the insurgents.

He therefore urged Nigerians to be more circumspect and report suspicious purchases and movements of unusual components in any part of the country, especially the North East.

The President  extended his condolences to all the people of Chibok, Gombi and Dolari who lost loved ones in the recent attacks and prayed that the Almighty God will comfort them and grant the injured persons quick recovery.

*Have they really lost the war yet? I don't think so, but we commend you for giving this a priority. It's really paying off...

APC Agitates over the Transfer of Father Mbaka

The All Progressive Congress has questioned the recent move of the Catholic church to transfer highly revered Fr. Ejike Mbaka to another parish.
Rev. Fr. Mbaka on the move to his new parish
The All Progressive Congress on Sunday condemned the transfer of the founder of the Adoration Ministries, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, to a new parish by the Enugu Catholic Diocese.

Mbaka was moved from the Christ the King Parish,G.R.A, in Enugu metropolis, which he presided over as parish priest for over 20 years, to Our Lady Parish, in Emene, a suburb of the Coal City.
It was gathered that Mbaka, who was the parish priest-in-charge at the CKC Parish, G.R.A, will serve as an assistant parish priest in the new parish.
In a statement made available to journalists in Enugu, the APC South-East Caucus spokesman, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said “it was wrong to punish the fearless priest for his prophecies which has proved to be from God”.

Okechukwu alleged that the transfer was influenced by outside forces.
The South-East APC spokesman expressed concerns over Mbaka’s safety, adding that his followers may find it difficult to get to Emene for programmes of the Adoration Ministry.
He said, “Whereas we accept that the transfer of priests is a routine exercise of the great Catholic Church, however we do not wholly accept a situation where the church allows external forces to influence transfer as the Mbaka’s case suggests.
“Otherwise, future liberation clergy who speak truth to power will be hamstrung to the detriment of the society.
“Our major concern is the security implications and the fate of his flocks who are mostly the downtrodden who may find it difficult to go to Emene for salvation and healing.
“We frown at anything which will put Fr. Mbaka in harms way or deny his flocks healing.”
The APC condemns all attacks on Mbaka, Okuchukwu said, noting that the party was in solidarity with the fiery priest.
Okechukwu further noted that Mbaka had been under stringent attack from Buhari’s opponents since he prophesied that Buhari would win the presidential election.
He accused the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo of playing a role ini Mbaka’s travails.
“As a party we have watched with concern and trepidation the criticism, the attack, assault and unpleasant comments hurled against Fr. Mbaka since he providentially prophesied that President Buhari would win the 2015 elections.
“Even the Church did not spare him – he was called unprintable names,  yet his prophecy came true. We are happy that Fr. Mbaka was vindicated.
“It must be pointed out that accusing fingers were pointed at the direction of some anti-Buhari elements like Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a group that didn’t want to hear the name of Buhari – even though Ohanaeze denied the allegation, doubts still persists.
“For we are still at a loss why a senior priest will be degraded to an assistant parish priest.
“We repeat that we are in solidarity with Fr. Mbaka and our major concern is the security of Fr. Mbaka and the suffering of his flocks mostly the poor who need his healing powers.
“We had thought that His Lordship Bishop Calistus Onaga could have retained him at the Adoration Ground, as the Bishop Emeritus Gbuji did because of security of his life and easy access by his flocks,” the APC chieftain added.
It was earlier observed that thousands of Mbaka’s followers wept uncontrollably as they escorted him and about 30 lorry-loads of his belongings to the new parish.

My Wife Beats Me At Every Chance, and Many Times, I Go Into Coma - Man Cries Out for Help

A man whose wife has turned him into a punching bag has cried out for help as the maltreatment becomes intolerable.

A 65-year-old man has dragged his wife to court to seek a dissolution of their marriage over battery.

The man who doesn’t want his name on print told an Asaba High Court that he re-married after the death of his first wife, so he could one again have a companion and also someone to help him take care if his four children, but the only thing he has gotten so far from being married to his second wife is beatings and harlotry.

“I married my wife in 1998 and did the church wedding at Catholic Church of Assumption, Zappa, in Asaba. Since then, we have two children; a boy and a girl, but this woman always threatens to kill me, she beats me at every chance, and many times, I go into coma. She vowed that she must kill me and she sent all my children packing, I cannot continue with the marriage.

“She beats me most times, but it came to a climax on January 17, 2016, when she took something and hit my head in an attempt to kill me, so that I would not be able to pursue the divorce case in court, but thank God, her mission did not come to reality as I overcame her plan.

“She is a harlot, she beats me every day. I cannot eat her food again because she is a harlot. It is against my tradition and I want the marriage dissolved before she kills me,” he said

According to Punch, when the court asked the man’s wife, she denied her husband’s allegations saying;

“What will make me to beat or attempt to kill my husband? We stay in the same house, sleep on the same bed, I am taking good care of him, but I don’t know what is wrong"

The case still lacks enough evidence to prove that the 65-year-old man was actually been abused by his wife as he claims.

However, the case remains in court, while the trial judge demands his first son as a witness to the allegations, the case was adjourned to February 17, 2016.

The TV legend, famed for fronting the Eurovision Song Contest, passed away today, his family confirmed.
In a statement, they said: "Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer.
"He passed away surrounded by his family.

BBC director general Tony Hall said: "Terry truly was a national treasure."
TREASURE: Sir Terry Wogan raised £600million as the face of Children in Need

The broadcasting stalwart has been entertaining Brit audiences on television and radio for more than 50 years.
His glittering career includes Children in Need since it began in 1980 - raising £600million - as well as his Wogan BBC radio chat show.
Sir Terry's death is the third this month to rock the world of showbiz and entertainment, following the loss of David Bowie and Alan Rickman.
And it is just weeks after rock'n'roll legend and Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilminster went to the great guitar heaven in the sky.
All three iconic stars, like Sir Terry, chose to keep their cancer battles secret from the public eye.
SADLY MISSED: Sir Terry and wife Helen at a Children in.    Need Gala in 2013

Sir Terry's final appearance on the airwaves was last November 8 for a Radio 2 show.
He was forced to pull out of Children in Need later that month for health reasons.
The Blankety Blank presenter was described as a "huge talent" as dozens of friends and colleagues paid tribute.
His successor as host of Radio 2's breakfast show, Chris Evans, tweeted: "We are all so terribly sad upon hearing of the passing of Terry.
"I can't put into words how the whole Radio 2 family is feeling.
"Our most heartfelt thoughts go out to Helen, Mark, Alan, Katherine and Vanessa.
"To many of us Terry was Radio 2. We still can't believe it."
Beeb director Lord Hall told how he had lost a "wonderful friend", adding:
"He was a lovely, lovely man and our thoughts are with his wife and family.
"For 50 years Sir Terry graced our screens and airwaves.
"His warmth, wit and geniality meant that for millions he was a part of the family.

"For decades he's been such a huge part of the BBC on television and radio and leaves so many wonderful memories.
"At the centre of Children In Need since its beginning he raised hundreds of millions of pounds and changed so many lives for the better. He leaves a remarkable legacy."
LEGEND: Terry Wogan was a hero to millions for his Children in Need work
Prime Minister David Cameron also paid his respects, tweeting: "My thoughts are with Terry Wogan's family.
"Britain has lost a huge talent - someone millions came to feel was their own special friend.
"I grew up listening to him on the radio and watching him on TV. His charm and wit always made me smile."
Loveable Tezza was known for his cheeky grin, twinkle in his eye and "special connection" with his audiences.
He has been described as "one of Britain's greatest broadcasters of all time."
The nation's favourite DJ was awarded a knighthood in 2005 and received an OBE in 1997.
HUGE TALENT: Audiences loved Sir Terry on quiz show Blankety Blank
Scores of stars took to Twitter to pay tribute to Sir Terry, including fellow Irishman Graham Norton, who replaced him on Eurovision in 2008.
Sir Tel's inimitable humour and wit during 35 years of Eurovision commentary made the cheesy pop spectacle a must-watch for Brit audiences.
And Eurovision today described him as "without doubt the most remarkable Eurovision commentator in history".
He demonstrated his dry sense of humour with other memorable quips about the show, including: "I don't make the mistake of thinking it's a major musical event. I love the Eurovision Song Contest and it will continue long after I'm gone. Just please don't ask me to take it seriously."
Sir Terry said of the 2007 contest in Finland: "Who knows what hellish future lies ahead? … Actually, I do. I've seen the rehearsals."
And he described the hosts of the 2001 show in Denmark: "Doctor Death and the Tooth Fairy."
HOWLER: Sir Terry laughed off announcing the wrong act to represent the UK at Eurovision
Sir Tel famously announced the wrong act selected to represent the UK on Making Your Mind Up in 2007 (It was Scooch who finished 22 out of 24 with a paltry 19 points).
But the blunder only served to further endear him to the nation.
The presenter defended his cock-up: "Nobody died. It's a television programme. It wasn't the general election. People got a bit confused."
Now fans are calling for a special tribute to Sir Terry at the next Eurovision contest.
Celebrity Juice host Leigh Francis dubbed Sir Terry a "television Jedi".
Unfortunately dozens of devastated fans tweeted tributes using the WRONG name.
Andy Scott-Lee – brother of Steps star Lisa – and member of pop group 3SL was among those incorrectly spelling the Eurovision presenter's name.
The star wrote: "RIP Terry Wigan! You were a legend!!"
