‘Shackled up and covered in food’ MTV cooking show explores strange world of food fetishes

AHEAD of the new season of Brothers Green: Eats!, YouTubers Mike and Josh Greenfield reveal why their cooking show is like nothing you’ve seen before.

SQUASHING: The brothers explore the world of food fetishes
The Brooklyn-based brothers are hitting the road and , travelling across America and the world.
Interestingly, they’re also going to be educating audiences about the strange world of food fetishes.
Speaking to Daily Star Online, Mike explained how one of his most bizarre experiences came after losing a pole dancing competition: “We went to this dungeon and there’s this thing called Squashing. I guess there’s a group of people out there that have a food fetish and are turned on by food.
“They go down and they kind of get food put all over their body by a dominatrix. I guess they enjoy it. I found it interesting, but I don’t know if I was turned on. That was definitely the weirdest thing, being covered in food and being shackled up.”
BIG BURGER: The hunger is real
JOE JONAS: The pop star helps out in the new series
Another scene shows the guys preparing a meal in the backseat of a moving hot rod.
Josh said scenarios like that were all about teaching people to cook in any situation with anything: “A lot of the times we were put in situations where we were doing things we’d never done before. I think that’s a fun part of the show is you get to see us do weird things for the first time, whether it’s trying to cook in the back of a car or learning some crazy Russian dance.”
As YouTubers such as Troye Sivan, Tyler Oakley and Miranda Sings are capitalising on their Internet fame, Mike suggested that appearing in a hit MTV show was a natural evolution for him and his brother: “We always felt like we wanted to get away from the standard cooking television. We wanted to get away from those sorts of channels and create something new. Something like MTV is perfect for us because it really was breaking in to our audience, an audience that we’re trying to influence.”
With cooking competitions such as Masterchef and The Great British Bake Off more popular than ever, Josh warned that those shows aren’t always as they seem: Well, they’re not reality [laughs]. Before we were really doing this cooking thing, we watched a lot of food TV and it felt like everything was really one side or the other. It was either full on drama or it was full on perfection. For us it’s been about slipping in the middle of that.
PARTY: The lads hit the road for series two
CUISINE: Model April Rose lends a hand
“We really enjoy just doing things in the moment and having them go well sometimes and not so well other times. We’re taking a risk and showing the audience that this is real life.”
Mike added: “We kind of just got ourselves into a lot of fun. Instead of teaching people how to cook, we were actually the students a lot of the time this season. The whole show still revolves around cooking and we always figure out a way to flip it in, but we found ourselves in a lot of crazy situations.”
There’s also an array of celebs on board for series two including Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, British songstress Jess Glynne, pop star Joe Jonas, rapper Lil Dicky and more.
Tune in to the second series of Brothers Green : Eats! at 11PM on Fridays, only on MTV.
