CRISTIANO RONALDO has scuppered Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 masterplan to deal with Gareth Bale.
England boss Hodgson arranged to face Portugal tonight at Wembley so he could work on a plan to deal with a special talent like Wales star Bale.
Hodgson thought it would be ideal preparation for facing Real Madrid superstar Bale in their second group game on June 16.
But Ronaldo has blown Hodgson’s plan out of the water after snubbing the friendly in favour of a pre-tournament holiday instead.
The Portuguese star is in Ibiza instead soaking up some sun.
He was given permission to miss the warm-up match for a short break, having helped Real Madrid win a record 11th European Cup in Milan last weekend.
But his absence will do nothing to help Hodgson as he fine tunes his final plans for a competition that promises to decide his future.
Hodgson said: “One of the things we thought about with Portugal is the fact that Ronaldo is a very special player, a very special talent and an unbelievably influential figure for all the clubs he has played for including Portugal.
