MANCHESTER United and Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has been named as a potential witness in a probe into a jailed porn film director, according to reports.
A victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has claimed she was taken to a hotel by the porn director and assaulted by two footballers including an ex-Spanish under-21 player, El Diario reports.
It is claimed that United keeper de Gea – also the Spanish number one – may have information about the hotel meeting at which the woman claims to have been raped.
There is no suggestion that the Spanish keeper was involved in the rape but rather he may be able to provide crucial evidence in the case against the porn director.
But, despite initial reports suggesting he had been sent home, De Gea remains with the Spanish national team and is intending to train with the squad this evening.
The claims have emerged in the investigation against Ignacio Fernandez Allende – commonly known as Torbe.
The documents appear to have originated from a regional police unit specialising in combatting the trafficking of women and is an internal, not a publicly-available document.
Spain are due to get their Euro 2016 campaign underway on Monday when they play Czech Republic.
It is not clear how these investigations will affect de Gea in the squad if he is called to give witness evidence to the Police or investigating judge.
