Tesco toddler attack: Man 'tries to rip boy's face off' with sharpened fingernails

A LITTLE boy was left scarred after being randomly attacked in a Tesco store.

SUPERMARKET HORROR: Little Alvis was attacked by a man who sunk his nails into his face
Alvis, aged 15 months, was being pushed along in the trolley during the weekly shop with his parents Chris and Jen Scutt when the horrifying incident happened.
As they were browsing aisles, a total stranger launched an unproved attack on little Alvis, sinking his fingernails into the tot’s face.
Dad-of-three Chris, 38, said: "I was just pushing my son along when the next thing I saw this hand launch past me and it grabbed hold of my son's face and tried to rip it off.
"I had to prise the hand off Alvis's face, which was covered in blood.
"He was distraught and has refused to sit in the trolley since, which is understandable."
Staff at the Tesco store in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, immediately rushed to thew boy’s aid as blood poured down his face in front of other horrified shoppers.
FAMILY NIGHTMARE: Alvis's mum and dad say he has been left terrified after the shocking attack
Chris and Jen, 33, immediately rushed him to hospital where he was treated for antibiotics that are normally given to dog bite victims.
The couple, who are parents to two other young kids, say they exchanged details with the person believed to be the man’s carer as staff were administering first aid.
But they fear he may now be scarred for life after being left with 11 bad scratches.
Chris added: "He is going to be left scarred as you can already see from where some of the scabs have fallen off.
"My wife and I are very shaken and Alvis's doesn't want anyone near him so we are concerned that he may not get over this."

A spokesman for Cephas Care, which runs the care home where the man is living, said: "We take very seriously our role in the care and safety of the people we support.
"As the event is currently under investigation by the police, we are unable to comment in detail.
"However, at the time of the incident we did involve the safeguarding team at the local authority and we continue to work closely with them and the investigating police officer."
Essex Police said officers were investigating the incident on May 10.
Tesco declined to comment on the incident.
