A young student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Samuel Chimezie Emeagwu, has allegedly been brutally tortured to death by policemen in Benue.
The police allegedly tortured the deceased to death
Policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Makurdi, Benue State have been accused of beating to death a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi identified as Samuel Chimezie Emeagwu.
It was gathered that the boy was beaten to a pulp and tortured by the police. Trouble started when the deceased misplaced his phone where he was sitting with a friend. As he couldn't find it, he decided to call his phone using another number. To his surprise, the phone rang in another boy’s pocket. Out of anger, he seized the boy and started beating him.
After the altercation, the boy who stole the phone called SARS policemen who arrested and brutally tortured the deceased, but on noticing that the deceased health condition was deteriorating, they alerted his family who then rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, the boy died.
The parents of the deceased boy is demanding for justice from police authorities. The matter is now under investigation.
