JOSE MOURINHO is set to be confirmed as the new Manchester United boss in the next 24 hours.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward met Mourinho and his agent Jorge Mendes for talks in London yesterday.
Negotiations will continue today but they are believed to be close to finalising a deal after Louis van Gaal was finally sacked on Monday night.
Starsport understands Mourinho has already agreed a three-year contract worth around £10m-a-year plus bonuses.
But there are still some items to be finalised, including the Portuguese’s preferred transfer targets.
Mourinho was seen yesterday clutching papers which appeared to be related to an employment tribunal case involving former Chelsea club doctor Eva Carneiro.
Mourinho is due to give evidence in the case on June 6 after Carneiro accused him of victimisation and discrimination over her sacking last year.
Meanwhile, Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona believes United would have been better off with new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola instead.
“Guardiola was the one to take,” said Cantona.
“He is the spiritual son of Johan Cruyff.
“He is the only one to change Manchester. He is in Manchester, but at the wrong one.
“I love Jose Mourinho, but in terms of the type of football he plays I don’t think he is Manchester United.
“He is very intelligent, he demands 100 per cent of his players. And of course he wins things.
“But I don’t think it’s the type of football that the fans of Manchester United will love, even if they win.
“He can win with Manchester United. But do they expect that type of football, even if they win? I don’t think so.”
United defender Daley Blind believes Louis van Gaal was harshly treated, despite walking away with a £5m pay-off.
“Over the last six months he has not been treated fairly,” he said.
“I think a manager like Louis van Gaal, who has achieved so much already, deserved more respect.
“Even though there was so much being written about him losing his job over the last months, he always looked to protect and shelter us. It is not easy for a coach if you are repeatedly being fired in the newspapers."
