It was on 2nd January 2016 that our dear Paul Agaba and Betty said 'I DO' in Holy Matrimony at the Lighthouse Church in Kaduna.
While many people will remember the colourful and joyful occasion of the day, it was his few words after the event that touched me most.
The words of Paul Agaba..."I got married a few weeks ago, prior to this time,I went through some rigours and painstaking moments with my ex-fiancee', now my Wife to plan our wedding. A handful of friends were there to lend a helping hand. The event was a huge success as deduced from the feedback we received afterwards. So lying on my bed a few days back, I realise how amazing targets could be achieved via the instrumentality of planning.
We plan when we want to undertake a building project, we plan for the education of our children, we plan for travels, investments, holidays and every imaginable mundane adventure, but we seldom plan for the next phase of life.
A first degree holder may not proceed for further studies by choice, but when it comes to death and after life,we really do not have a choice. A choice that spells eternal doom is not a thought to be entertained at all.
As appalling as the evolution theory is, it postulated a time of a beginning. If there is actually a beginning, shouldn't common sense teach us that there will be an end? And the end may not be in the fashion you have anticipated. Truth is not validated by our stupidity or wisdom, neither by our faith or unbelief. Truth is a moving violation, it happens irrespective of our disposition to it. So it is foolhardy to kick against the bricks. When you hear 'Jesus is coming soon' don't think it is just a religious gibberish, quit thinking it is just a threat to make you act right, it is the truth and it has absolutely nothing to do with you believing in it or not. When a woman is pregnant and it is evident to all, she cannot help but bring forth a child. Creation itself is already pregnant with the hope of redemption, the return of the King is an irreversible event that will materialise this hope. Do yourself a favour, get ready!
What will be your fate when Jesus cracks open the sky and you hear the blarring of the trumpet? It won't matter if you single handedly raised a church building in Afghanistan, it won't matter if your offering is usually the fattest in your church, it won't even matter if the Pope is your acquaintance so long as your name is not found in the book of life.
It is good we make plans, but it is far more expedient that we allow the expectation of eternal life with God moderate our plans. Because if it is in this life alone that we have hope, then we are of all men most miserable. Get ready,THE KING IS COMING".
Thank you very much for this wonderful and timely reminder. The coming of the Lord is inevitable and we all know what comes thereafter. Let us utilise His grace and mercy why we are still alive on earth because mercy, grace and forgiveness of sins seize immediately we cut out of this world. No repentance in the grave they say.
From all of us here, we wish Mr & Mrs Betty Paul Agaba all the goodies marriage brings.
