Kellan Denny was playing with his eight-year-old brother on a South African game reserve when he was lunged at by the ferocious beast.
His dad ran to his son's aid, screaming "no no no this can't be happening" as the beast dragged away his six-year-old.
The leopard, who had sunk its teeth into the child's shoulder, went on to pull the defenceless child away.
LeopardHis father screamed out: "no no no this can't be happening"
The deadly predator let go of the traumatised youngster giving his devastated dad the chance to bring him to safety.
Young Kellan Denny is now recovering at home with his family – but has been left "quite traumatised" by the attack.
The game reserve's manager, who claimed it was the first attack of it's kind in the park for 40 years, said: "The leopard was most likely hunting when it saw the boy."

His father Justin explained that his son was running laps around the wall when the beast struck.
He said: "He wanted to go back and do another lap.
"When he went back to the wall, that is when the leopard attacked.
"By the grace of God, it dropped him.

"I picked him up and rushed him back to the rondavel. A neighbour arrived with his wife who is a nurse."
Despite the attack park workers have taken to calling little Kellan Denny "leopard boy".
His father added: "At the time, my focus was on chasing down the leopard and making sure Kellan was fine.
"His brother was also quite traumatised, but he was brave for his brother."
