DIED: Anton has died after a freak car accident
Actor Anton Yelchin was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car.
The 27-year-old was known for his roles in Star Trek and Alpha Dog.
Friends started to worry after he was supposed to meet them for a rehearsal hours earlier.
RISING STAR: Anton was on his way up
After heading to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1AM, they found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate.
Officers told TMZ the engine was running when his body was discovered and the car was in neutral.
The driveway was on a fairly steep incline, but it remains unclear why he would have stepped out of the car.
Police, however, do not suspect any foul play.
GONE: Anton was known for his role as Chekov in Star Trek
Anton's publicist, Jennifer Allen confirmed the news of his death earlier this morning.
Yelchin started his career with small parts in indie films and various television shows, before his breakout role as Zack Mazursky in Alpha Dog in 2006.
He went onto the star as the eponymous lead in the teenage comedy Charlie Bartlett before landing his biggest role to date as Chekov in Star Trek, the third of which, Star Trek Beyond comes out in July.
Yelchin was an only child, born in Russia, and moved to the US when he was a baby.
rom many independent movies to TV series and other interesting roles, Anton Yelchin did manage to enter our hearts and now they are empty because he is not around us any more. He will always remain in our hearts as the perfect Chekov and one of the best actors in the Star trek trilogy. One thing is certain, we will never forget the hard work and commitment that Anton Yelchin had and how well he played the role of Chekov. Anton Yelchin will surely be missed by all of us!
