DAN EVANS produced the win of his career to move book a dream Wimbledon clash with Roger Federer.
The British No.4 had never won a game at SW19 before this week.
But he announced himself as the new home hero by dumping out 30th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov on Court Two in 1hr 47mins.
The 26-year-old from Birmingham strode to a 7-6 6-4 6-1 win and he will now meet the seven-time Wimbledon champ.
Evans said: "It's going to be good fun and an amazing experience. I have got to prepare like I have a chance to win the match.
"I have to put to the back of my mind that he is one of the best players ever to play the game."
Evans is guaranteed to walk away with a minimum £80,000 of prize money.
But less than 20 yards away on Court 12, with Evans supporters peering over fences to get a look, there was less reason for cheer.
British No.2 Heather Watson blew three match points as she lost a first-round marathon.
Watson took the first set against Annika Beck - then lost 10 out of 11 games in a row.
She looked dead and buried in the decider as her equipment took a pummelling.
Watson was warned for racket abuse but that moment proved a mini turning point.
She bounced back from a double break down at 4-1 to get herself back in the match.
But it was all in vain as Watson failed to take her chances - none better than the three match points at 10-9 - to fall to a 3-6 6-0 12-0 loss.
Watson made 64 unforced errors in the match.
