TRAGIC Prince told fans concerned for his health to save their prayers, just days before his death.
The Purple Rain singer had a medical emergency on Friday morning and his personal jet had to make an unscheduled landing.
Yet he appeared at a concert the next day assuring fans he was okay, telling them to "wait a few days before you waste any prayers."
A representatives of the star told TMZ he was only battling the flu, but just days later his body was found slumped in a lift at his home.
His publicist confirmed the death of the notoriously private star at his US home in Minnesota.
A UK representative for the music icon said there were no further details on his cause of death.
Police investigators and a medical examiner are on the scene at his personal studio, Paisley Park.
Now the cops have announced an investigation into the legend’s mysterious passing in an online update.
TV stations on-site filmed number of dark-coloured cars parked inside the compound as members of the public gathered.
Now the world of showbiz is overflowing with tributes to Prince, describing him as a “creative genius”.
His local baseball side, the Minnesota Twins, have honoured him by decorating their stadium with the words good night sweet prince.
Known for his flamboyant stage presence, Prince had hits including Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad? and I Wanna Be Your Lover.
He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
The star’s 1984 album Purple Rain has been described as one of the most influential in music history.

Born Prince Rogers Nelson, he wrote his first tune Funk Machine on his dad’s piano at the tender age of seven.
He formed a band called Grand Central whilst still in school, before branching out on his own and achieving solo success.
Over the course of his career, he released 39 studio albums, and went by various monikers including an unpronouncable symbol.
His last album, HITnRUN Phase Two, was released in December last year and he was writing an untitled autobiography, due to be published next year.
A consumate showman, he would often play venues for several consecutive nights with his backing band, including 21 shows at London’s 02 Arena in 2007.
His songs were often sexual, just like Prince's off-stage antics, with it claimed he held bizarre orgies in themed rooms – amid other allegations.
He was married twice, first to his backing dancer Mayte Garcia, from whom he split in 2000, and then Manuela Testolini, whom he divorced in 2006.
Police have now confirmed the death of the star, following earlier confirmation from Prince’s publicist.
Carver County Sheriff's Office has also tweeted that an investigation into the death of the star is under way.
They tweeted: "Prince Rogers Nelson found dead at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
“We are investigating the circumstances of his death."
The loss of Prince is the latest in a series of celebrity deaths to shock the world in 2016.
It comes just hours after the death of Victoria Wood, the beloved Brit comic and star of Dinnerladies.
While the world of music has lost rock legend David Bowie, Beatles producer George Martin and Eagles guitarist Glen Frey.
