The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, on Tuesday said all is now set for officers and men of the force to move to liberated communities in North East Nigeria.
Arase, who is in Maiduguri, is having talks with the Theatre Command of the Operation Lafiya Dole as well as rank and file officers serving under the Borno State Command to firm up plans before effecting deployments.
“One of the reasons I came to know how far we have gone with the preparations and to also see what the needs assessment would be so that we would be able to roll out as soon as possible but be rest assured that we appreciate all you’re doing, we thank you for holding the ground; we are so proud of you and we shall do everything within our power to ensure your welfare and comfort is paramount before you are deployed.”, he said.
The IGP said the visit is also meant to motivate officers and men maintaining that President Muhammad Buhari has directed that allowances and welfare packages are secured.
“As those areas are repaired we would take them over. Even areas that have not been repaired we can see what we can do to make sure that there is a semblance of civil authority. We want to ensure that the people of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa (States) have their lives back: we want to see that they’re able to go back to their normal habitat and have a feeling of security.”
The Police chief, however, declined to mention liberated areas where the police intends to take over for “operational reasons”.
