Three people have lost their lives and many others critically injured in a fire outbreak at a fuel service station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) along the Nnamdi Azikiwe by-pass in Kaduna State capital.
Eyewitnesses say the fire started around 5:11p.m local time on Sunday and raged for more than three hours.
It also destroyed over 10 vehicles particularly those that were on queue to buy petrol.
Some residents of Kinkinau Government Reserved Area, where the petrol station is located, told Channels Television that the incident occurred while a petrol tanker was discharging its petrol at the service station.
A leakage from the tanker caused the fire, they said.
An official of the Kaduna State Fire Service, confirmed the death of the three people, but he could not confirm the cause of the fire.
