TERRIFIED: Neighbours called the police to the Leicester City star's home
Today should have been a day of celebration for the Vardys as Leicester City announced this morning that their star striker has penned a new deal to stay with the Foxes.
But instead of having another party, Jamie will no doubt be worrying about his wife - at home with their one-year-old daughter Sofia.
WORRIED: Thieves targeted the striker's house while he was away representing his country
Callous thieves, clearly targeting the luxury Leicestershire mansion while Jamie's away on England duty, were spotted near the property in the early hours of this morning.
A source close to the Vardy's exclusively told Daily Star Online: "Becky's neighbours noticed some men acting suspiciously in front of her house this morning and called 999.
"It wasn't the first time they had seen a van pull up and men looking through the bushes and over the wall.
"The family have 24/7 security guards and dogs at the house at the moment.
PREPARATIONS: Security are protecting Becky and daughter Sofia while Vardy trains for Iceland
"So Becky and the kids are safe and sound and feel 100% confident that they are well protected."
The men had gone by the time the police arrived but it is the second time they have had people hanging around the house this week.
The first time a van pulled up and men started to climb over their front garden wall but they heard the security guards and dogs and jumped back in their van and ran off.
Local residents even took to Twitter to warn vulnerable Becky.
A Twitter user, known only as "Gasman", wrote: "The old bill are at your house Mrs Vardy. Just being neighbourly and letting you know."
Prem footballers are often targets of thieves when they're away on club and country duty.
Last year, the wife of then Manchester United star Angel was so terrified after an attempted robbery at their homenear Manchester that she refused to ever go back there.
And, The Daily Star has already revealed how frightened"vulnerable" WAGs will have round-the-clock security during the Euro 2016 tournament.
A spokesman for Leicestershire Police told us: "We were called to a report of two people acting suspiciously outside a property in Burton Road, Melton.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area. No one was located and no offences have been identified."
