MESUT OZIL has revealed he apologised to David Luiz following Germany's mauling of Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.

The Arsenal favourite was instrumental in destroying the hosts during the 7-1 semi-final win.
Chelsea defender Luiz was distraught after the game and had a shocker as Brazil crashed and burned in Belo Horizonte.

While the Germans should have been on cloud nine after reaching the final Ozil admitted he actually felt bad about the battering.
Ozil said: "All the players, me as well, were a little bit surprised.

"After 20 mins it’s 4-0 and you’re like ‘What’s happened here?’.
"If you lose a big game and you see all the fans outside crying and the players crying, you feel with them.
