ISIS could be about to collapse after Iraqi forces seized the ancient city of Nimrud.
Iraqi troops fought off the evil jihadis to recapture the city after ISIS demolished the historic settlement in March 2015.
An official Iraqi military statement read: "Troops from the Ninth Armoured Division liberated Nimrud town completely and raised the Iraqi flag above its buildings.”
Officials do not yet know how much damage has been caused – but some fear that parts of the city have been completely destroyed.
As well as the flattening the buildings, ISIS is believed to have destroyed a series of historical artefacts too - including several murals and statues that date back to as early as the ninth century BC.
It is also feared that the ISIS militants may have destroyed Nimrud’s famous winged bull statues - which even have human heads - but historians will have to take a closer look at the city once the terror group have been pushed back further.
Iraqi forces are currently involved in a brutal war to free the parts of the country controlled by ISIS and the city of Mosul, 30km north of Nimrud, has seen a fierce battle in recent weeks.
It looks as though the Iraqi soldiers are winning the war after photos emerged of dozens of Iraqi women tearing off their burkas in celebration of the end of the rule of the barbaric regime.
