CHRIS Brown has been sued by Suge Knight in relation to a shooting in 2014.
The former rap music producer was left with seven gunshot wounds after the incident at a West Hollywood club.
The lawsuit accuses the singer, who was hosting the event with singer Pia Mia on August 23 2014, and the club owners of being negligent in providing a safe environment.
It accuses the Don't Wake Me Up hitmaker of being a "known gang associate".
It also says the 27-year-old had previously hosed events at which there had been violence, so the club should have been tighter with security.
It says: "Aware of this documented past and the high likelihood of violence including the possession and or use of firearms by those attending the event the defendants, and each of them, had a duty to provide adequate security."
The lawsuit reportedly lists around 30 defendants, including Brown and Pia Mia.
Suge Knight co-founded hip hop label Death Row Records which put out music from artists such as Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, MC Hammer and Dr Dre.
Knight, real name Marion, is in jail for a murder charge after being accused of running two people over in January 2015.
His trial is set to start August 1 and he has pleaded not guilty to killing one and injuring the other victim.
The lawsuit asks for unspecified damages in excess of $25,000.
Chris Brown and Pia Mia worked together professionally on the 2015 single Do It Again.
The track, which reached number eight in the UK charts, also features Kylie Jenner's ex Tyga.
