ROY Hodgson's flop Three Lions are the laughing stock of Europe after being humiliated by minnows Iceland.
FLOPS: Roy Hodgson's England team were humbled by Iceland
Five days after the British people voted to leave Europe, the football team did it all on their own.
Boasting a population of less than 1% of the UK's, the tiny nation hit back after an early Wayne Rooney penalty to dash England's hopes of glory at Euro 2016.
And the humiliation led to the resignation of Hodgson straight after the match, saying he'll remember his time as England manager "with pride".
ITV pundits Lee Dixon and Ian Wright pulled no punches, branding England's players an "embarrassment".
Hundreds of fans had packed into the fan zone in Nice to follow the action, with Three Lions supporters making up the vast majority of the crowd for the last 16 game.
Beers and arms flew into the air in the French Riviera and fans were still singing when Ragnar Sigurdsson slotted home an equaliser barely two minutes later. Then the jovial atmosphere soon changed.
SHOCK: England lost 2-1 after being gifted an early lead
Angry fans blasted the abject display as the "worst ever" by England.
Spud, an English Chelsea fan watching the game, said: "We're out of Europe twice in one week. I can't believe it."
Another fan Neil Smith, 32, said: "England is the world's biggest laughing stock.
"This result will be remembered for as long as the EU referendum. I'm embarrassed to be English."
Wayne Johnstone, 47, of Manchester, said: "At the end of the day, we just couldn't get a goal. It's just heartbreaking.
"My fiancee is French and I was hoping we'd win and there would be a game between England and France in the quarter-final but it isn't to be.
"I won't hear the last of it when I get back. I'll be in for plenty of stick."
HORROR: Fans could barely watch as the Three Lions were humbled
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger looked dejected in the crowd.
Former Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel described the defeat as: ''The craziest thing I have seen in football.’’
British middleweight champion boxer Chris Eubank Jnr said: ''How have we just lost to Iceland? This is like when Mike Tyson lost to Buster Douglas... HOW!?’’
Northern Irish comedian and TV presenter Patrick Kielty also referenced the Leave campaign's de facto leader Boris Johnson with his tweet: ''Boris – probably best if you secure those borders before this England team gets home.’’
Comedian and writer Dom Joly joked: ''Didn't expect us to be out of Europe that quickly – Farage delighted.’’
He added: ''Does anybody else suddenly feel Welsh?’’
Iceland had promised a war before the match, and they fought doggedly to keep their lead, although England placed little pressure on them.
Iceland's rejoicing fans are also set for one hell of an after-party, after Daily Star Online revealed how theirbonking-mad women love no-strings-attached liaisons.
But boss Hodgson's reaction to this was more sober, leaving his job after one of the most humiliating results in England's history.
