A BUDDING British cricketer has been murdered in an armed robbery, officials have said.
Adrian St John was killed in Trinidad on Saturday night, according to reports.
The 22-year-old was in his car when the incident took place.
Local media claims he was robbed and told to drive away, but one of the attackers opened fire on the car.
West Indies batsman Chris Gayle paid tribute to the aspiring star on Twitter.
He said: "Such sad news to hear. My condolences to his family and friends."
Adrian was the captain of the Chris Gayle academy.
A 24-year-old man is believed to have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
St John's cousin Leandra Alexander said: "Adrian was very cool and jolly.
"He was a darling. He was never rude, never disrespectful, he was just a cool and quiet child."

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are in contact with local authorities following the death of a British national in Trinidad and are ready to provide consular assistance."
Alexander said her cousin had been in Trinidad and Tobago since February for the country's annual carnival.
She added that he had extended his stay but was scheduled to come back to Britain next Tuesday.
