Atletico: Signing Costa would be ‘almost impossible’

Diego Costa Chelsea
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes it would be “almost impossible” to re-sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
Costa left the Spanish club to join the Blues in summer 2014, with the striker scoring 21 goals and winning the Premier League and Capital One Cup in his first season.
But the Spaniard has endured a difficult season at Stamford Bridge in his second year, with the club’s title defence collapsing earlier in the season.
Costa has been linked with a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain, and was reportedly the subject of a bid from an unnamed Chinese Super League club recently.
Former club Atletico have also been linked, but club president Cerezo has almost ruled out a move.
“He has a contract with Chelsea,” he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. “There are many times when, as much as a I want a player, there is a contract.
“To negotiate with Chelsea can be really tough, almost impossible.”
Costa scored 43 goals in 93 league games at Atletico, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and two Super Cups.
