David Gest dead: CBB star found lifeless in London hotel aged 62

DAVID Gest has been found dead in unexplained circumstances at a five-star London hotel.

The 62-year-old was found dead at the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf.

Although the star had spoken of being ill in the CBB house, David's death is currently being treated as unexplained

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 10:17hrs on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel, in Westferry Circus, E14, to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s. London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel.

"A post-mortem will be held in due course. Next of kin are in the process of being informed."

His friend Imad Handi confirmed in a statement that David had passed away.

The legendary producer and reality star appeared in Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, but left due to medical reasons.

In an eerie twist, David was announced as "dead" by housemate Tiffany Pollard after she misunderstood Angie Bowie telling her that David Bowie had died.

The US reality star was hysterical, telling everybody that "David is dead" while Gest was just having a nap in another room.

Pollard has since released a line of T-shirts with the slogan "David is dead" across the chest.

David was due to tour the UK this summer with fellow performers Dina Carroll, Russell Thompkins, Jr. and Freda Payne on a tour bizarrely called David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul.

The music producer grew up as a childhood friend of Michael Jackson.

David famously married Liza Minelli in 2002, and regularly hit headlines due to their eclectic relationship.

After a wedding which saw Martine McCutcheon as a bridesmaid, the couple broke up a year and a half later.

Their divorce went through in 2007, after a messy legal battle which saw David accuse his ex of being physically and emotionally abusive during their marriage.

As well as appearing on CBB, David was a contestant on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, on which he gained national fame and came fourth.

On the show, he became close friends with Busted's Matt Willis.

David also appeared on Come Dine With Me, Soapstar Superstar and Grease Is The Word.
