A GREAT-GRAN forced a burglar who broke into her home to flee by walloping him with her walking stick.
The burglar was rifling through pensioner Grace Smith’s belongings after booting her front door in.
But the 89-year-old diabetic, dubbed Amazing Grace, dished out a beating on him during the daylight burglary.
She was about to watch her daily dose of Home and Away before she “suddenly” saw the man lurking in her house.
She added: “He could’ve punched me once and I would’ve been done for but I didn’t think that at the time.
"I just thought ‘you’re not having any of my stuff’. I don’t have much, just my little treasures.
“People have often said I am Amazing Grace, I never thought I’d have to prove it.”
The brute shoved Grace onto her sofa before he left.
The pensioner, from Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, said: “He got fed up of me hitting him. People have often said I am Amazing Grace but I never thought I’d have to prove it.”
Her daughter Sue Hargreaves, 64, joked: “She was more worried about her cats getting out than she was about herself.”
Police are investigating the March 24 incident in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.
