A CITY in Syria has been blasted with chemical gas, according to local reports.
At least 23 people are believed to have been killed in the sick attack in Aleppo, with more than 100 injured.
Journalist Nawrouz Uthman said: “The attack was carried out between 11.30 and 12.00 local time.
“The gas that was used in this attack, caused choking and malaise among those affected.
“This indicates that the poisoning substances were used in the attack.”
Harrowing video footage shows a yellow plume of gas rising from where the attack took place.
One victim said he felt “dizzy and unwell” and could not “stand up” because of the toxic gas.
Local doctor Walaat Mamu said victims are suffocating as a result of the callous attack.
He said: “The victims mostly come with symptoms of suffocation as a result of the shelling of the Sheikh Maksoud toxic gases.
“It is not established exactly which specific poisonous substance was used in the shelling.
“However, symptoms that the victims have been showing make it possible to ascertain that they were poisoned as a result of [inhaling] of banned toxic gasses.”
The city is ruled by Kurdish militia group People’s Protection Units.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by Islamist factions of the Free Syrian Army.
