A TWISTED journalist who became a terrorist for al-Qaeda has been shot dead by a firing squad.
Hassan Hanafi, who was convicted of murdering five reporters, was tied to a wooden post before being blasted away.
The execution took place in a police academy in Somalia.
Hanafi, a one-time radio host, was sentenced in March after being booted out of neighbouring Kenya last year.
The sick militant joined al-Shabaab, the Somalian branch of al-Qaeda, in 2008.
He worked as an informant for the group, identifying journalists the evil jihadis could potentially target.
Hanafi was promoted to a commander by his superiors in 2009, after impressing them in his previous work.
But soon after his promotion, Hanafi was seriously injured.
After being sentenced to death he said: “Al-Shabaab killed many journalists but personally I killed only one.
"But I am indifferent if you kill me.
"You will see if killings will stop even after my death."
Two other al-Shabaab members were recently executed for killing a journalist with a car bomb.
