WATCH: Stansted jets abort landings, sway perilously and skid on runway during Storm Katie

INCREDIBLE new footage shows the peril of planes trying to land at Stansted Airport during the havoc wreaked by Storm Katie.

A succession of jets made increasingly perilous landing attempts at the Essex airport as the winds took hold last week.
Killer Storm Katie hit the south of England over the Easter weekend with 100-mph winds claiming at least two lives, bringing down power cables and felling trees.
It also had a major impact on air travel with jets disrupted by the gusts.

The footage from Stansted shows Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways and Eurowings planes floundering in the tricky conditions.
One jet is forced into a hasty aborted landing when just feet from the tarmac.
Another skids along the runway while taking off in driving sleet.

An easyJet plane tips alarmingly from side to side as it battles with the freak conditions but it eventually manages to land successfully.
The person who filmed the landings said: "Conditions were exceptionally poor from 7am to mid morning, with heavy rain and wind, and then snow and sleet followed by warm sunshine but blustery conditions."
Storm Katie has passed through now, with the latest peril to face Brits Saharan dust clouds being blown over along with an April heatwave including temperatures of up to 27C.
