Ryan Giggs: This star could be Paul Scholes' successor, Man United must sign him

RYAN GIGGS believes Manchester United should sign Luka Modric as the club's successor to Paul Scholes.

Scholes is widely regarded to be one of United's greatest ever players and was a pivotal member of Sir Alex Ferguson's side during their glory years.
The former England midfielder won 11 Premier League titles during his glittering Old Trafford career and the club have found it tough to replace him since his retirement.
Fellow United legend Giggs reckons Real Madrid star Modric would fit the same mould as Scholes and has urged his former club to splash the cash on the Croatian.
"I remember Croatia from Euro 1996, when we all saw what great striker Davor Suker was," he told reporters at a UEFA event in Zagreb.
"Today Croatia is strong, with Mario Mandzukic, Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric – he is my favourite.
"For me Modric is the real successor to Paul Scholes. I would be happy if he was to come to United.

"They are very similar players and if it was up to me I would bring him to Manchester United."
Modric is among several stars that Real are trying to tie down to new contracts.
Toni Kroos recently signed a bumper new deal, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are currently in talks and the club are eager to secure Modric's long-term future as well.

Modric, capped 94 times by Croatia, joined the La Liga giants from Tottenham in 2012 for £30m and has gone on to claim several major honours including two Champions League medals.
The 31-year-old failed to earn any silverware during his four-year stint at White Hart Lane and could have a sense of unfinished business in England.
