The Red Devils dominated the 90 minutes but found Tom Heaton in inspired form in goal for the Clarets.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard all had great chances but the former United keeper was determined to keep his clean sheet intact.
Mourinho felt his side should have had a penalty on the stroke of half-time but his protests didn't go down well with referee Mark Clattenburg.

Burnley offered little threat in attack and even the sending off of Herrera for two bookable offences didn't stop wave after wave of pressure coming from the home side.
Wayne Rooney was introduced late on but he was unable to secure a win for United.
The result means the Red Devils lose even more ground in the Premier League title race as Arsenal and Manchester City picked up victories.
