A BRITISH holidaymaker drowned to death after falling asleep in her Magaluf hotel bath after a drunken night out following a row with her partner.
Samantha Johnson, 23, was discovered lying lifeless by workers at the three-star TRH Torrenova just before 11pm on Monday night (May 2) after they forced their way into her room when they saw water seeping under the door.
Sources close to the case said she had rowed before the tragedy with her partner who had flown home to the UK alone, but stressed the incident was unconnected to the Brit’s death.
She was found by hotel staff with the taps still running after they were alerted to water seeping out under her door.
Emergency services were called to the popular resort of Palmanova at about 11pm last night but paramedics were unable to resuscitate her.
Reports in Spain suggest the woman was on holiday and staying with her partner at the TRH Torrenova hotel.
It is believed she had been out drinking and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson told Spanish newspaper The Local: "The forensic department carried out an autopsy on Tuesday morning and has determined that it was an accidental death through drowning.
"She had a lot of alcohol in her system and may have fallen asleep while taking a bath.
"It appears that she had quite a few drinks and on returning to the hotel decided to take a bath.
"Hotel staff were alerted when water appeared under the door and when no-one answered they entered the room to find the woman in the bath with the tap still running.
"The hypothesis is that she passed out and then drowned."
An investigation is underway but it is believed police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The news comes just days after Daily Star Online exclusively revealed a terror map showing British holiday hotspots targeted by ISIS – with Magaluf among the targets.
The TRH Torrenova is just 300 metres from Magaluf beach.
Its website says it is ideal for "resting and enjoying holidays."
A string of Brit holidaymakers have lost their lives in Magaluf in accidents including hotel falls and drownings in recent years.
Most were linked at the time to the excessive consumption of drink or drugs or both.
British police were sent to Magaluf last July to patrol Magaluf’s rowdy Punta Ballena area as part of a week-long trial.
They also spent a week afterwards in brash San Antonio on the neighbouring island of Ibiza.
