Manchester United have reportedly told Jose Mourinho that the Old Trafford job is his.

Sky Sports claim that the ex-Chelsea chief is being lined up by United if they decide to axe Louis van Gaal.

They claim that the 53-year-old held talks with his agent Jorge Mendes in London last night with the manager being told he will be back at a top club in July.

It is understood that that job will be at United should the club show Van Gaal the door.

Old Trafford legend Peter Schmeichel wants United to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer.

"I read about Ibrahimovic in the newspapers,” Schmeichel told Sky Sports.

"I would love for him to come to Manchester United, I’ve said this for a long time. He was born to play for Manchester United.

"He’s like an Eric Cantona, who can inspire all the guys in the dressing room but also the supporters.

"That’s what it’s all about. It’s not about having a Sunday nap at Old Trafford."

United are reportedly set to miss out on Valencia star Andre Gomes.

The Red Devils have been linked with the midfielder, who played under Gary Neville during the Englishman's short stint at the Spanish club.

But according to The Sun, Juventus have upped their interest in the 22-year-old.

It is understood that the Old Lady are set to sign the Portugal international for £40m to reinforce the centre of their midfield.
