JURGEN KLOPP has stunned Liverpool chiefs with a shock Anfield demand.
The Kop boss rung the board just after midnight today to tell them he wanted to rip down the legendary This is Anfield sign in the players’ tunnel.
And in a demand that left top brass shocked, Klopp ordered it to be replaced by a picture of himself.
The iconic This is Anfield sign has adorned the wall for years and is often touched by stars before they go out.
But Klopp doesn’t care and feels it is haunting his current squad.
That left the ambitious boss incensed and he took matters into his own hands.
Klopp called a local printers in the middle of the night to produce a new sign.
He then paid his own set of workmen to go in and do the work themselves, giving them a noon deadline to get it done.
They duly obliged and Klopp subsequently organised a photoshoot to capture the unveiling this morning.
An Anfield insider said: “It’s all been great fun since Jurgen arrived and he’s breathed new life into the place.
“His training has been refreshing, his touchline antics are good fun and he clearly loves his new club.
“But when he rung the board with the demand, no-one could believe it. It was completely out the blue.
“You can’t go round and rip up history - unless you’re Jurgen.
“He’s grinning like a Cheshire cat in the pics. Needless to say, the chairman and his directors are fuming.”
Liverpool are due to speak out on the matter in a press conference at midday today.
