Liverpool transfer blow! Germany international midfielder speaks out over future

MAX MEYER insists he does not want to leave Schalke this summer.

STAYING PUT: Meyer is happy at Schalke
The Germany international has enjoyed three impressive seasons with the Bundesliga outfit, attracting interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool were heavily linked with the attacking midfielder in January but have now switched their attentions to Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze.
Sport Bild reported in the last transfer window that the Reds were joined by Barcelona, Sevilla and AC Milan in pursuit of Meyer.
The 20-year-old has a £25.5m release clause in his current contract, which runs until 2018.
But Meyer says he is happy at Schalke and wants to renew his deal.
He said: "I see no reason to leave the club.
"Certainly I have in the three professional years here as much experience as perhaps other players in ten or 15 years.
"But if you go in as a young player with such a [strong mentality], then you can raise.
"For me that's the case, I would not interfere [with that]."
