SIR ALEX FERGUSON has warned Pep Guardiola to brace himself for a rough ride when he takes over at Manchester City.
The former Manchester United manager believes that Guardiola’s glittering CV will only take him so far in the Premier League.
Guardiola will finish his three-year stint with Bayern Munich at the end of the season to replace Manuel Pellegrini.
Ferguson said: “Obviously, Manchester City have had a real coup in getting him because he’s an outstanding coach, but Pep won’t find it easy.
Former Barcelona boss Guardiola has two Bundesliga titles under his belt, is on course for a third and is chasing the Champions League crown too, with a quarter-final first leg against Benfica to look forward to next Tuesday.
That is on top of the 14 trophies he won in just four years at Barac, including Champions League final victories over Ferguson’s United in 2009 and 2011.
Meanwhile, Ferguson says only Tottenham can stop Leicester pulling off a fairytale title win.
Claudio Ranieri’s side are five points clear of second-placed Spurs with seven matches left and Ferguson said: “Leicester are nearing the finishing line. That is the biggest task.
“They have to remain consistent to what they’ve done. There is no point changing what they’ve been doing for the previous six months.
“There will be testing times for them and they have to come to terms with the fact they will drop a point or two. They may even lose a game. But others will drop points.
“I only see Tottenham being a danger to Leicester. Tottenham, at the moment, are playing some of the best football I’ve seen from a Spurs team in many years. But Leicester have got the edge. I think they’ll get there.”
