A CANNIBAL who ate a pretty youngster alive just weeks after he was free from prison had been addicted to drugs from the age of nine, investigators said.
Matthew Williams, 34, was drugged-up when he lured shop assistant Cerys Yemm to his hotel room where he ate her eyeball and half her face while she screamed for help.
Cerys was pronounced dead at the Sirhowy Arms hotel in Argoed, near Caerphilly, South Wales, after a police officer broke through the door and tasered the beast.
The monster was out of jail on licence from a five-year prison sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend at the time.
Pals told how Williams, 34, bought Cerys a drink then he invited her back to the hotel – which also acts as a homeless hostel – saying he would get her a cab home in November 2014.
He is believed to have persuaded her to come up to his room – before starting his horrific attack.
Argoed resident Lyn Beasley said at the time: "He went Hannibal Lecter on the woman, he gouged her eyeballs out, ate them and ate and half her face. He had just been released from prison and was high on coke."
Jill Edwards, who lives near the scene, added: "Security said they told him no girls in his room and he didn't answer, when they opened his door he was eating her face."
Williams died after he was tasered by police in the hotel room.
Cerys's father Dean Yemm said: "The only victim in this case was Cerys - a fact we feel has been lost."
