Deal Breakdown: Arsenal pursuit of £23.5m winger hangs in the balance

BORUSSIA DORTMUND are looking to secure the future of winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Reports in Italy claim Dortmund have offered Mkhitaryan, who joined for £23.5m, a lucrative new deal to snub the advances of Arsenal and Juventus.

The Armenia international's contract expires in June 2017, which has sparked major interest in his signature.

However, the Bundesliga outfit plan to keep the dynamic winger and will significantly increase his £30,000-per-week wages.

The Guardian report that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Mkhitaryan in action ahead of a summer approach.

It's believed Arsene Wenger is interested in the 27-year-old as he prepares to offload Mikel Arteta, Flamini and Tomas Rosicky.

He could also prove an upgrade on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose Emirates future remains uncertain.
