Beefy ‘Granddad Bodybuilder’ killed in car crash on way to contest

A MUSCLEBOUND pensioner dubbed ‘the Granddad Bodybuilder’ has died in a car crash on his way to a contest.

Manuel Valbuena Andes was killed as he travelled through Valencia for a weightlifting show.
The 72-year-old celebrated weightlifter broke numerous record for his impressive strength.

He had not touched a weight until he retired early at the age of 49.

He took up the rigorous lifestyle after his doctor told him his health was at risk and told him to join a gym.
It proved to be a wise decision as four years later he competed and won his very first bodybuilding title.
He began to break records in his age category for ‘powerlifting’ before being given his nickname.

The Spanish Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation described its “most profound regret for this significant loss".
Three others were seriously injured in the head-on collision as the car was heading for Alicante.
