After the gruesome ordeal, she was released. Her parents and their neighbours who were already searching for her asked her what happened and she narrated her ordeal with blood still streaming from her private part.

The matter was reported to the police who took her to a hospital and went after the suspects. They were later arrested and taken to court for prosecution.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A. A. Paul granted the suspects bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. After they pleaded not guilty.
