Spanish daily Sport report that the duo want out of the Bernabeu.
They said that Ronaldo and Ramos went directly to Real president Florentino Perez to ask to be allowed to leave in the summer.
Manchester United are keen on the duo and have been working on deals for both recently.
The Red Devils were strung along by Ramos over the summer as he used their interest to bag himself a new deal in the Spanish capital.
United's admiration for Ronaldo refuses to go away and the three-time Ballon d'Or winner has spoken of an emotional Old Trafford homecoming in the past.
French giants Paris St-Germain are keen on Ronaldo and will provide stiff competition for the Portuguese's signature.
Whether United would be prepared to go back in for Ramos after his summer antics remains to be seen.
They certainly have the money for both but Ronaldo's slump in form and increasingly confrontational attitude to his team-mates could prompt Louis van Gaal to think twice about a monster move.
