RESPECT: Kerry Washington said she respected the people of colour who avoided the
Oscars
The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite was used to comment on the fact that the main category nominations lacked people of colour.
Seven categories featured only white nominees including Best Actor category in which Eddie Redmayne, Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Fassbender.
And speaking at the event, Scandal actress Kerry Washington had her say on the issue.
Kerry spoke about why she turned up to the event, despite other black actors and actresses giving it a miss.

She said: “A lot of people have asked me why I’m here tonight.
