WELL, THIS IS A DIFFERENT JOB: Michelle McManus has swapped the stafe for the
kitchen
The singer won the talent show back in 2003, however the star's career failed to take off, and she's since swapped the state for the kitchen.
Michelle has been helping to launch the Scottish Baker Of The Year 2016 competition and has been making our favourite pastries – ours is an éclair please Michelle – in an attempt to find the finest cake-makers in Scotland.
Posing during filming, the brunette idol winner wore a red hairnet and white baker's coat as she played around with the icing.
THE REAL DEAL: Michelle is helping to launch Scottish Baker Of The Year 2016
The former singer was challenged to ice up as many biscuits and cakes as she could alongside Clyde 1 radio stars Diane Knox and Cassie, as well as STV's David Farrell.
Michelle has even been plugging the competition for the Evening Times, saying: "What really makes this launch special though is that we'll also be raising much needed funds for the Make A Wish charity which supports children with life limiting conditions and their families.
"Now in its fifth year, the competition celebrates our love of a tasty treat from our local baker and aims to crown just one hard working bakery Scottish Baker Of The Year.
POP IDOL: Michelle won in 2003
"Best of luck to all the competitors in this year's competition and here's hoping my attempts at cake decorating doesn't shut down the entire Scottish Baking industry all together."
Michelle won ITV show Pop Idol back in 2003 and even went to number one with her first single All This Time.
It was thought that she was going to be huge in the industry, sadly however she failed to make any impact in the charts after that.
QUEEN OF PASTRIES: The singer's new job is different
CHALLENGE: She had to ice up as many biscuits and cakes as she could against other people
Despite even attempting a comeback in 2008 where she released a second album, Dancing To A Different Beat, she failed to set the charts alight.
Not ready to give up just yet, after her failed pop career she went on to perform in the Vagina Monologues at the Cumbernauld Theatre in Glasgow, as well as writing a column for The Evening Times.
Still better than Steve Brookstein though, eh?
