Leicester 2 Liverpool 0: Jamie Vardy fires deadly double to keep Foxes top of the pile

JAMIE VARDY stunned Liverpool with a real goal of the season contender.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Vardy fired Leicester to victory over Liverpool
The Foxes hitman scored a 60th-minute wonder goal with England boss Roy Hodgson looking on from the stand just for good measure.
It was Vardy’s 17th goal of the season and he can’t have scored one better. Talk about Route One – this humdinger absolutely underlined that there’s nothing like just going for it.

Riyad Mahrez skied a 50-yard long ball in Vardy’s direction and he showed just why he’s the Premier League’s top marksman.
The ball bypassed Mamadou Sakho and left Dejan Lovren trailing while Vardy never took his eye of it.
He let it bounce once and then – right on the angle of the box 22 yards out – hammered it on the volley and left Simon Mignolet diving in despair as the ball ripped into his net.
And Vardy wrapped up the win for the title-chasing Foxes 12 minutes later after a Shinji Okazaki shot hit Alberto Moreno and flew into Vardy’s path who fired into the roof of the net for his 18th goal of the season.
No wonder Leicester have offered Vardy a brand new three-and-a-half year, £75,000-a-week contract – as exclusively revealed in Starsport last month.
Leicester could easily have been two goals to the good in the opening 10 minutes as they got off to a blistering start against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
With just over a minute on the clock Mahrez cut across the face of the box and drilled a low, left-foot shot just inches wide of the post.
Then in the ninth minute Vardy clipped a superb cross to the far post where Okazaki was lurking just beyond Sakho.
It cleared the Liverpool defender but when Okazaki flashed a header towards goal, Mignolet reacted brilliantly and somehow managed to claw the ball up into the air and onto the roof of his net.
But Mignolet held back his showstopping moment until just before the break when he produced a mesmerising one-handed save to keep out a blistering Mahrez shot from 35 yards.
