A tearful tragedy has befallen the families of two bubbling and pretty teens after the high-school friends committed suicide hours apart.

Two Dallas-area high school friends believed to have killed themselves hours apart may have made a suicide pact, officials said Sunday. Ritu Sachdeva and Hillary Kate Kuizon, two 17-year-old girls from Plano East Senior High School, were both found dead in Murphy early Sunday, police said.

Detectives are searching for any links in the two teens’ deaths after Sachdeva’s body was found just after midnight in her home and Kuizon’s was discovered hours later in a wooded area, Murphy officials told The Dallas Morning News.

“If that happened that there was some sort of pact, we need to know that because it may lead to further tragedies such as this one,” said city spokesman Celso Martinez. “We don’t know if it was but we don’t want to discount the possibility offhand.”

Investigators haven’t uncovered any evidence of foul play in either of the girls’ deaths and medical examiners haven’t released their official causes of death, KTVT-TV reported. Both deaths are being probed as suicides.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the two families,” Murphy Police Chief Arthur Cotten said in a statement. “We are treating these two cases with the care and compassion they deserve, and will continue to seek answers for the families.”

Their passing shocked the suburban public high school 22 miles northeast of Dallas. The Plano Independent School District provided grief counselors for students Sunday and Monday.

“I’ve seen them probably a couple times in the past,” Plano East student Christian Lewis told the TV station. “They were good students, always on time, always kept their grades up.”

“I don’t know what the school can do, or what anyone else can do to prevent stuff like this, really,” fellow student Praharsha Sunkara told KTVT. “But I really think that just talking about it would help.”

Sachdeva’s sister Suchi discussed her grief in an emotional Facebook post telling her younger sister to “rest peacefully” and that she “loves you to the moon and back.” The family has scheduled a memorial for Sachdeva on Sunday afternoon at Charles W. Smith and Sons in Sachse, Texas, her sister said.

“Nothing could have prepared me for this,” she wrote. “It's been extremely difficult; I'm still hoping to wake up from this nightmare. Everyone loved her so so so much. Our family and friends are devastated. It's going to be extremely difficult to move on from this tragic loss.”

A friend of Kuizon's expressed sorrow in a post on Twitter on Monday.

"RIP Kate Kuizon. you were a blessing to have known," the tweet said. "I can't wait to see your big smile in heaven!! i love you."
