Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward made a panic phone call to Jose Mourinho after fears he was considering a return to Inter Milan in the summer.
The Red Devils chief is still backing Louis van Gaal despite the demoralising 2-1 Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland on Thursday evening.
The Sun claim Woodward phoned Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes on his return from the disastrous trip to the Danish minnows and feared the worse.
The Special One previously led the Serie A side to a famous treble in 2010.
Arsenal have been told there is 'no chance' summer transfer target Gonzalo Higuain will be moving to the Emirates.
"We have a contract and there's no chance of playing elsewhere, but we can't think about the Champions League now, but just about playing every game," agent and brother Nicolas Higuain told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
"There are still many points to play for. When Gonzalo plays it's normal that there's a high chance of scoring goals, he's having a great season."
Wenger is an admirer of the Argentine who has 24 goals in 25 Serie A appearances this campaign.
Juventus ace Paul Pogba has spoken of his admiration for Pep Guardiola which will spark a transfer war between Manchester City and Chelsea for his services.
The Daily Express claim a bid in the region of £70m will be needed to secure the France international in the summer.
Pogba said: "All the players respect him. You only have to look at him and you want to learn from him. I've heard that he improves every player. He is a football icon.
"Right now I am still with Juventus, but clearly if you have chance to work with someone like him, you can only develop further."
