A Lagos resident was today, Monday, February 1st, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate court for allegedly stealing a bottle of beer valued at N250.
A 25-year old tiller identified as Abdullah Idris, who resides at number 24, Ogunbambi Street, Dopemu in Lagos State, was on Monday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate court for allegedly stealing a bottle of beer valued at N250.
He was charged with stealing, contrary to section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Inspector Idowu Onime who is the Persecutor, while testifying in court, said that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 23 at 36, Adebisi Awosoga St., Dopemu.
Idris was said to had taken one bottle of beer while it was been offloaded from a carton into a shop. "It was someone who saw him drinking the beer that alerted one of the staff and he was apprehended," said Onime.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Miss A. R. Onilogbo, however, ordered that the suspect be remanded in Kirikiri prison while adjourning the case till February 10th for sentencing.
